Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Hold Despite Block Cheese Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 5 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.80 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $4.30 Higher
DOW JONES: Closed
NASDAQ: Closed
CRUDE OIL: $0.79 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese declined 1.75 cents closing at $1.8975 with three loads traded. The barrel cheese price remained unchanged at $1.87 with no loads traded. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 74 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are steady to 8 cents higher. Traders believe the weakness will be short-lived. The butter price remained unchanged at $2.60 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk slipped 0.50 cents closing at $1.3650 with five loads traded. Class IV futures are 1 to 12 cents higher Butter futures are 0.05 to 2.80 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 2.85 cents higher. The markets will close at 12:15 p.m. CST in observance of the National Day of Mourning for former President Jimmy Carter.
