Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter and Barrels Fall

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 8 Lower
SOYBEANS: 19 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $13.80 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.10 Higher
DOW JONES: 19 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 8 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2.92 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese held its ground today with the price remaining steady at $1.60 with one load traded. Barrel cheese price plummeted, falling 11 cents and closing at $1.56 with six loads traded. This is the largest one-day decline that we have seen for quite some time.

Dry whey remained unchanged at 41 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are being hit hard with contracts ranging from 2 to 44 cents lower. Butter price fell 10.75 cents, closing at $2.49 with five loads traded. This moves butter to the lowest level since July 11.

Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 0.75 cent, ending at $1.1975 with three loads traded. Class IV futures are 1 to 33 cents lower. Butter futures are steady to 7.50 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.42 to 0.92 cent lower.
