Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Demand Ramps Up

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $4.35 Lower
DOW JONES: 582 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 569 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.31 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price climbed 0.25 cents to $1.5550 with three loads traded. There was one bid left at the close. Cheese barrels fell 0.25 cents with no loads traded and only one offer, closing at 1.6425. The dry whey price was unchanged, closing at 75 cents with no loads traded. There was one offer left at the close. Class III futures are 3 cents to 14 cents higher. The butter price is 5.25 cents higher, closing at $1.5525 with eight loads traded. There were six bids and two offers unfulfilled at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk was up 1.50 cents at $1.1725 with five loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet been traded. Butter futures are 0.975 cents to 3.525 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.3 cents higher. Cheese futures are 0.7 cent to 1.5 cents higher.
