Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Jumps on Strong Buying Interest

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price remained steady at $1,9375 with no loads traded. An unfilled bid and uncovered offer remained at the close. The barrel cheese price increased 0.25 cent, closing at $1.8425 with one load traded and an unfilled bid remaining. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 56.25 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 30 cents lower to 7 cents higher as traders are uncertain of the near-term price potential. The July contract is showing the greatest loss. The butter price jumped 6.00 cents, closing at $2.56 with 25 loads traded. This is the highest price since Jan. 15. Grade A nonfat dry milk slipped 0.50 cents, closing at $1.2725 with one load traded. Class IV futures are steady to 5 cents lower. Butter futures are 3.50 to 6.55 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 1.75 cents lower to 1.60 cents higher. The May Federal Order class prices will be released today.
