Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Extend Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $2.72 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 1.50 cents, closing at $1.7750 with five loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 3.50 cents, closing at $1.79 with no loads traded. The barrel price moved higher on two unfilled bids, and no buyers showed up to do any business. Even though cheese prices have increased, they are not near the highs established in mid-April. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 52.00 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 6 to 43 cents higher, with June showing the greatest gain. The butter price increased 0.75 cent, closing at $2.3375 with six loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk decreased 0.50 cent, closing at $1.19 with two loads traded. Class IV futures have only traded in the September contract at 2 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.10 to 0.45 cent lower. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.50 cent higher.
