Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Further Gains in Cheese

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Lower
SOYBEANS: 8 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.00 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.90 Higher
DOW JONES: 6 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 2 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.21 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 3 cents, closing at $1.80 with seven loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 6 cents, closing at $1.90 with one load traded. There were four unfilled bids for loads of blocks with one uncovered offer. There was an unfilled bid for a load of barrels. Buyer interest as increased significantly over the past week as higher prices are pulling more buyers off the sidelines. The dry whey price increased a penny, closing at 47.50 cents with two loads traded. The concern over a slowing of imports by China does not seem as much of a concern as initially anticipated. Class III futures are mostly higher with gains confined to contracts through September.

Futures range from 5 cents lower to 41 cents higher, with the only loss seen in the October contract. The butter price increased by 0.25 cent, closing at $2.35 with 19 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk remained unchanged at $1.1675 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are 1 to 17 cents higher with trading confined to the 2026 contracts. Butter futures are 0.50 cent lower to 0.37 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.10 to 0.25 cent lower.
