Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Post Further Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: Steady
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.10 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.27 Higher
DOW JONES: 241 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 70 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.61 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 2.50 cents, closing at $1.77 with four loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 3.50 cents, closing at $1.84 with five loads traded. There was one unfilled bid for a load of blocks and four uncovered offers, while barrels had two uncovered bids. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 46.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 2-40 cents higher with trading activity confined to the April through September contracts. The butter price remained unchanged at $2.3475 with no loads traded. The Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.1675 with no loads traded. Trade has only taken place in the December contract at the unchanged price. Butter futures have only traded in the May contract at 0.25 cent lower. Dry whey futures are 0.77 to 1.90 cents lower.
