MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Class III futures showed early strength, but that was quickly reduced when the block cheese price fell back. Block cheese declined 4 cents with eight loads traded. The barrel cheese price remained unchanged at $1.8050 with no loads traded. There was an unfilled bid for a load of blocks and a load of barrels with an uncovered offer for a load of barrels remaining at the close. The dry whey price declined at penny closing at 61 cents with no loads traded. The weakness of dry whey is a concern as it puts significant pressure on the market. Class III futures are 5 cents lower to 8 cents higher. The butter price declined 2 cents closing at $2.41 with two loads traded. This is the lowest price for the year and since June 27, 2023. Grade A nonfat dry milk remained unchanged at $1.34 with three loads traded. Class IV futures are 21 cents lower to 10 cents higher. Butter futures are 1.00 to 3.47 cents lower.
