Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Remains Unchanged

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 2 Lower
SOYBEANS: 11 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: Unchanged
LIVE CATTLE: $0.50 Lower
DOW JONES: 46 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 182 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.17 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both block and barrel cheese prices remained unchanged at $1.61 with no loads traded. There was one unfilled bid for a load of blocks and one for barrels remaining at the close with an uncovered offer remaining for a load of barrels. The dry whey price increased by 0.25 cent closing at 38.50 with two loads traded. Class III futures had little to go on leaving futures 4 cents lower to 8 cents higher. Trading volume is good with the May contracts trading over 1,400 contracts on limited price movement. The butter price slipped by 0.50 cent closing at $2.92 with one load traded. The Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased by 0.25 cent closing at $1.1225 with nine loads traded. Class IV futures are 15 cents lower to 1 cent higher. Butter futures are 3.85 cents lower to 0.75 cent higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.20 cent higher.
