Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Blocks Turn Lower

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Lower
SOYBEANS: 2 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $1.62 Higher
DOW JONES: 285 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 70 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.61 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Class III futures were higher prior to spot trading on the hope blocks would show some strength. However, that did not happen, and futures fell back. Block cheese price declined 4.75 cents, closing at $1.5150 with seven loads traded. Barrel cheese price gained 2.50 cents, closing at $1.47 with eight loads traded. There were unfilled bids for three loads of blocks remaining at the close. Dry whey price declined 1.50 cents, closing at 41.50 cents with three loads traded. Class III futures are 19 cents lower to 4 cents higher. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.5675 with no loads traded. There were no buyers or sellers showing up to the market. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained a penny, closing at $1.1950 with 10 loads traded. Class IV futures are 6 cents lower to 9 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.50 to 1.00 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.50 to 0.75 cent lower.
