Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Drops

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Higher
SOYBEANS: 22 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.60 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $3.10 Lower
DOW JONES: 308 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 245 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $4.21 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 2 cents, closing at $1.60 where it had been a week ago. There were no loads traded. Barrel cheese price declined a penny, closing at $1.67 with one load traded. Price initially increased 0.25 cent but then more aggressive offers pushed it lower. Dry whey price slipped 0.50 cent, ending at 41 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 11 cents higher to 34 cents lower with December taking the brunt of the selling. The butter price fell 9.25 cents, closing at $2.5975 with two loads traded and one offer remaining.

Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.20 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are mixed at 2 cents lower to 10 cents higher. Butter futures are 5 cents lower to 5.32 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.25 to 3.50 cents higher.
