Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Holds

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 190 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $1.60 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.97 Higher
DOW JONES: 80 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 131 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.57 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both block and barrel cheese prices remained unchanged at $1.9625 and $1.8675 respectively with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up to do any business in blocks with an unfilled bid and uncovered offer remaining for barrels. Dry whey price dropped a penny, closing at 31 cents with 2 loads traded. Steady prices for cheese supported the market despite the weakness of dry whey. Class III futures are steady at 25 cents higher. Butter price increased by a penny to $2.73 with 16 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained a penny, closing at $1.10 with 15 loads traded. Class IV futures are 15 cents to 25 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.55 -- 2.75 cents higher. Dry whey is unchanged at 0.50 cent higher.
