Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Shows Further Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 6 Higher
SOYBEANS: 8 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $7.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.77 Lower
DOW JONES: 61 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 159 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.88 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 6.25 cents closing at $1.5225 with six loads traded. There were three unfilled bids and six uncovered offers remaining at the close. Price initially moved up to $1.55 before buyers stepped back and allowed price to tip back slightly. Barrel cheese price gained 8.50 cents closing at $1.6525 with five loads traded. There were two unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. Dry whey remained unchanged at 27.50 with no loads traded. Class III futures are 4 to 32 cents higher with September showing the greatest gain. Butter price declined 1.75 cents closing at $2.36 with 15 loads traded. There were nine unfilled bids below the market at the close with no offers. Grade A nonfat dry milk price slipped 0.25 cent ending at $1.1625 with seven loads traded. Class IV futures have only seen trade in the August contract 9 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.95-1.50 cents lower. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 0.27 cent higher.
