Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese and Butter Show Further Weakness

SOYBEAN MEAL: $1.80 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.10 Lower
DOW JONES: 196 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 111 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2.37 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price declined 1.75 cents closing at $1.4050 with 16 loads traded. There were 3 unfilled bids remaining at the close of trading. Barrel cheese price declined 2 cents closing at $1.55 with 2 loads traded. There were 2 uncovered offers remaining at the close. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 28 cents with 6 loads traded. There were 11 unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. There was interest in buying but not higher than the current price. Class III futures were higher overnight and during a part of the morning but then began to decline ahead of spot trading. Futures fell further during spot trading but did not remain at those levels. Futures are 18 cents lower to 2 cents higher with August showing the greatest loss. Butter price declined a penny closing at $2.3525 with 3 loads traded. There were 3 unfilled bids and 1 uncovered offer remaining at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.16 with no loads traded. There was interest in buying and selling but not enough to accomplish any business. Class IV futures are 37 cents lower to 3 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.07-2.45 cents lower. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.02 cent lower.
