Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Minor Bounce of Cheese Prices

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 9 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $6.50 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.02 Higher
DOW JONES: 292 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 102 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.87 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 0.75 cents, closing at $1.98 with two loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 0.50 cents, closing at $1.72 with four loads traded. There was one unfilled bid for a load of blocks at the closing price and two uncovered offers above the market. Barrels closed with one uncovered offer. Buyers were looking to take advantage of the lower prices. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 41.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures range from 10 cents lower to 26 cents higher. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.38 for the sixth consecutive trading day with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up during spot trading. Business is being done in the country with little reason for buyers or sellers to come to the spot market. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 1.25 cents, closing at $1.2975 with three loads traded as sellers want to move product rather than store it. Class IV futures are a penny lower in December, which is the only contract that has traded. Butter futures are 0.27 to 1.10 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.97 cent lower to 0.35 cent higher. USDA will announce the December Federal Order prices today.
