Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Uneventful Spot Trading

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 16 Lower
SOYBEANS: 19 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.70 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.02 Lower
DOW JONES: 201 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 120 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.59 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both block and barrel cheese prices remained unchanged at $2.35 and $2.38, respectively, with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up to do any business. Dry whey price remained steady at 58.50 cents with no loads traded. There were three unfilled bids remaining at the close of trading. Butter price declined 2 cents, settling at $2.64 with one load traded and an unfilled bid remained at the closing price. Grade A nonfat dry milk remained unchanged at $1.74 with four loads traded. Spot trading had little impact on the market with Class III futures lower, near where they had been prior to spot trading. Futures range from 31 cents lower to 10 cents higher. The only gain is seen in the nearby May with price at $25.05. It looks like another new record for milk prices will take place in May. Class IV futures are 28 cents lower to 5 cents higher on very limited trading activity. Butter futures are 2.62 to 5.35 cents lower. Dry whey futures are steady to 1.25 cents lower.
