Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrel Cheese Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 12 Lower
SOYBEANS: 20 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.70 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: Unchanged
DOW JONES: 225 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 159 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2.33 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price remained steady at $2.24 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 2 cents, closing at $2.21 with no loads traded. Dry whey price declined a penny closing at 74.50 with one load traded. The block barrel spread is back within 3 cents and a spread difference that has been rarely seen over the past years. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.8025 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased a penny ending at $1.88 with 11 loads traded. Class III futures are 10 cents lower to 43 cents higher. Class IV futures are 4 to 10 higher. Butter futures are 0.52 cent lower to 5.50 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.50 cent lower. USDA will release the February Livestock Slaughter report Thursday, providing the numbers for dairy cattle slaughtered during the month.
