Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Continues to Slide

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 15 Lower
SOYBEANS: 7 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.40 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.77 Higher
DOW JONES: 74 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 17 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.28 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 2.25 cents, closing at $1.88 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 4.50 cents, closing at $1.84 with one load traded. There was an unfilled bid remaining for each at the close of spot trading. The block/barrel spread is remaining somewhat close to each other for the time being. Dry whey price increased 0.50 cent, closing at 85.75 with one load traded. Butter price declined 3 cents, closing at $2.4525 with three loads traded. This is the lowest price since Dec. 31. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 1.25 closing at $1.7975 with nine loads traded. There were three unfilled bids and five uncovered offers remaining at the close of spot trading. A trade set the closing price. Class III futures are 4 cents lower to 21 cents higher. The only contract posting a decline is December 2022. Class IV futures are 4 to 39 cents lower. Butter futures are 1.25 to 2.75 cents lower. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.30 cent lower. USDA will announce the January class prices Wednesday afternoon.
