Block cheese fell 6.75 cents closing spot trading at $1.7725 with 5 loads traded. Barrel cheese price jumped 9 cents to $1.60 with 6 loads traded. The strength of barrels more than offset the decline of blocks, but that did not make any difference for traders. Class III futures are unchanged to 14 cents lower. Butter price declined 1.75 cents closing at $1.77625 with 9 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained steady at $1.35 with no loads traded. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 53.50 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are unchanged to 2 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.02 cent to 1.00 cent lower. Dry whey futures are 0.55 cent to 0.77 cent lower. USDA will release the August Milk Production report Monday. I estimate milk production to be up 1.6% from a year ago with cow numbers down 2,000 head from July.
