Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Continues to Fall

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased by 2.50 cents, closing at $1.85 with three loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 0.25 cent, closing at $1.7975 with no loads traded. There were three unfilled bids and one uncovered offer. There were two unfilled bids for barrels. The dry whey price increased a penny to 58 cents with six loads traded. Instead of traders buying aggressively in Class III futures, selling has been more prominent with double-digit losses in nearby contracts. Class III futures are 1 to 26 cents lower in contracts through January and unchanged to 13 cents higher in later contracts. The butter price declined by 4.50 cents, closing at $2.3550 with one load traded. Price is at the lowest level since May 21. Grade A nonfat dry milk slipped 0.50 cent, closing at $1.2650 with two loads traded. Class IV futures are 15 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.75 to 3.87 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.52 cent lower to 2.97 cents higher. Cheese futures are 1.80 to 3.50 cents lower.
