Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Hold Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased by 0.75 cent, closing at $2.2075 with eight loads traded. The price initially declined by 0.50 cent before buying interest moved the price into positive territory. There were two unfilled bids and three uncovered offers, possibly indicating the price has reached a level where sellers will become more active. The barrel cheese price increased by 0.50 cent, closing at $2.1650 with four loads traded. The price did reach $2.17 during spot trading but did not hold that level. The dry whey price slipped by 0,.25 cent, closing at 56 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 6 cents lower to 6 cents higher in moderate trading. The butter price remained unchanged at $3.12 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased a penny to $1.2425 with seven loads traded. Class IV futures are mixed from 22 cents lower to 20 cents higher. Most of the trading activity has been in the January through June contracts. Butter futures are 1.40 cents lower to 1 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.57 cent lower to 0.25 cent higher.
