Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Price Jumps

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

DOW JONES: 112 Points Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 1.50 cents moving to $1.8650 with 3 loads traded. Price is now on the verge of breaking out to the upside of the range it has been in. Barrel cheese price remained steady to $1.68 with 1 load traded. Butter got the attention of traders today with price increasing 7.50 cents closing at $2.1225 with 11 loads traded. Price is now at the highest level since Oct. 19, 2019. It was interesting that there was only one bid remaining at the close of spot trading with 12 uncovered offers remaining at the close. Buyers certainly needed to increase ownership to satisfy orders. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 3 cents closing at $1.6250 with no loads traded. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 71.25 with no loads traded. Class III futures are 4 cents lower to 25 cents higher. Only front month December shows weakness while the greatest gain is in the May contract. Class IV futures are 5 cents to 32 cents higher. Butter futures are 1.25 cents to 4.00 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.62 cent to 1.25 cents higher.
