MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:
Block cheese price jumped 7 cents, closing at $1.68 with one load traded. Barrel cheese price increased 5 cents, closing at $1.66 with 11 loads traded. Buyers were aggressive, and with only unfilled bids remaining at the close, it bodes well for further upside potential. There were unfilled bids for eight loads at the close for barrels and two unfilled bids for blocks.
Dry whey price increased 0.75 cent, closing at 39.25 with 10 loads traded. Class III futures are 4 cents lower to 41 cents higher. The only losses are in the November and December contracts. May shows the greatest gain and volume with over 1,000 contracts traded. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.92. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 0.25 cent, closing at $1.12 with one load traded. Only the June Class IV futures contract has traded with an increase of 10 cents. Butter futures are steady to 2.22 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 1.22 cents higher.
