Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Update - Cheese Gains More Ground

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 5 Higher
SOYBEANS: 9 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $8.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $1.15 Higher
DOW JONES: 217 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 30 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.87 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price gained 5.50 cents, closing at $1.50 with one load traded. There were two unfilled bids remaining at the close below the market. The barrel price increased 2 cents, closing at $1.42 with 14 loads traded. There were five unfilled bids remaining below the market. Barrel price initially declined 0.50 cent before buying became more aggressive. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 22.75 with no loads traded. This is unusual as trading activity has been heavy for quite some time for whey. There were bids and offers posted, but no strong interest from buyers or sellers to do any business. Class III futures are 7 cents lower to 21 cents higher with August showing the greatest gain. Butter price slipped 0.50 cent, ending at $2.4875 with eight loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.0775 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are 5-6 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.30 cent higher with only the September contract traded. Dry whey futures are 0.17 cent lower to 0.87 cent higher.
