Thursday Midday Dairy Market Update - Cheese Prices Continue to Move Higher

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 5 Higher
SOYBEANS: 3 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $1.60 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.02 Higher
DOW JONES: 7 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 218 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.32 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increase 4.25 cents, closing at $2.2325 with five loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 6 cents, closing at $2.44 with 10 loads traded. There were no unfilled bids or uncovered offers remaining at the close. Buyers were aggressive in their quest for obtaining product. Sellers were willing to sell as price scaled higher. Block price initially gained 5 cents before slipping back a little into the close. Butter price declined 2 cents, ending at $2.7550 with three loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 0.25 cent, closing at $1.8225 with two loads traded. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 63.50 with no loads traded. Price has remained steady for the past 5 consecutive trading periods. Class III futures are 5 to 15 cents higher. Class IV futures are steady to 12 cents lower. Butter futures are 0.12 cent lower to 1.00 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.27 cent lower to 0.25 cent higher.
