Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Show a Nice Bounce

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 3.75 cents, closing at $1.67 with seven loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 4 cents, closing at $1.6450 with three loads traded. There were five unfilled bids for blocks with one uncovered offer. There was one unfilled bid for a load of barrels. Unfortunately, the strength of cheese was partially offset by the penny decrease in the dry whey price, closing at 48 cents. Class III futures are 4 cents lower to 29 cents higher. The butter price increased 2 cents, closing at $2.33 with 22 loads traded. There were four unfilled bids and eight uncovered offers remaining at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased 0.25 cent, closing at $1.16 with four loads traded. Class IV futures are steady to 7 cents lower with trading activity only in the first quarter of 2026. Butter futures are 0.22 to 2.47 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.42 cent lower to 0.50 cent higher. USDA reduced estimated milk production for 2025 by 700 million pounds from their previous estimate. They currently estimate milk production to total 226.2 billion pounds.
