Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - February Class III Futures Limit Down

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price initially declined 8 cents before buyers became more aggressive with the price recovering 7 cents of the loss. The price closed a penny lower at $1.90 with two loads traded. The barrel cheese price declined a penny closing at $1.87 with one load traded. There were two unfilled bids for blocks and one uncovered offer. Barrels had three uncovered offers remaining at the close. The dry whey price slipped 0.25 cent closing at 73.75 with two loads traded. Class III futures are 75 cents lower to 15 cents higher. The February contract is limit down, while the strength is in the contracts late in the year. The butter price declined 3.75 cents closing at $2.5750 with eight loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased 0.25 cent closing at $1.3675 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are unchanged with trading activity only in the October contract. Butter futures are 1.87 to 7.00 cents lower. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 0.75 cent higher.
