Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter and Cheese Show Further Gains

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 3 cents closing at $1.70 with four loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased 1.75 cents closing at $1.6675 with three loads traded. The increase in cheese prices spurred further buying interest as cheese buyers seemed to have turned more aggressive. Fresh cheese is in greater demand as orders are being placed for the holidays. Sellers are holding back, hoping to sell at higher prices. The dry whey price declined 2.25 cents closing at 70.25 cents with three loads traded. Class III futures are 1 cent lower to 44 cents higher with January showing the greatest gain. The butter price increased 1.75 cents closing at $2.54 with 10 loads traded. This is the fourth consecutive day of gains. Nonfat dry milk slipped 0.50 cent closing at $1.37 with 15 loads traded. There were three unfilled bids and two uncovered offers remaining at the close. Class IV futures are 16 cents lower to 15 cents higher. Butter futures are 2.25 cents lower to 2.20 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.50 cent higher. USDA will release the November Federal Order class prices, and the October Dairy Products report Wednesday afternoon.
