Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Drop Back

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Higher
SOYBEANS: 5 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $0.70 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.25 Lower
DOW JONES: 154 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 3 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.03 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price declined 3.50 cents closing at $1.6650 with three loads traded. The barrel cheese price declined 2.50 cents closing at $1.6425 with two loads traded. Two unfilled bids for blocks and one unfilled bid for barrels remained at the close. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 70.25 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 18 cents lower to 25 cents higher. The front-month December contract shows the greatest loss with May showing the greatest gain. The butter price remained unchanged with no loads traded. No buyers showed up during spot trading with two uncovered offers remaining at higher prices. Grade A nonfat dry milk gained 1.25 cents closing at $1.3825 with eight loads traded. Class IV futures are 5 cents lower to 10 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.07 -- 2.00 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.72 -- 4.00 cents higher.
