Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Exhibits Further Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $1.00 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.42 Lower
DOW JONES: 191 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 159 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.62 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Cheese prices still have not found support with lower prices today. The block cheese price declined by 0.75 cents closing at $1.88 with four loads traded. The barrel cheese price declined 4.25 cents closing at $1.8450 with one load traded. There were two unfilled bids remaining in barrels at the close which may have kept Class III futures from falling much further. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 59.50 cents with one load traded. Class III futures are 18 cents lower to 2 cents higher. The butter price declined a penny to $2.6150 with 33 loads traded. The price initially gained 2.50 cents before the selling pressure moved the price to close lower. Nonfat dry milk gained 0.25 cents closing at $1.3350 with two loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet been traded. Butter futures are 0.95 to 2.92 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.35 cents lower.
