MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price remained unchanged at $2.27 with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up during spot trading leaving the market in limbo. The barrel price increased a penny closing at $2.2850 with no loads traded and an unfilled bid setting the closing price. The dry whey price increased 0.25 cents closing at 59 cents with three loads traded. This supported the early strength in Class III futures but not to the extent that they have increased. Of course, some of the strength was a delayed reaction to the strength of cheese on Friday that did not garner buyer interest ahead of the weekend. Class III futures are steady to 53 cents higher. The butter price increased 1.50 cents closing at $3.19 with no loads traded. There were three unfilled bids remaining in the market at the close of the trading period. The butter price is now 0.75 cent from the high of the year. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 1.50 cents closing at $1.38 and a new high for the year. Class IV futures are 5 cents lower to 5 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.50 to 3.32 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.25 to 1.25 cents higher.
