Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Block Cheese Price Jumps

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $0.70 Higher
DOW JONES: 607 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 367 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.67 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price jumped 6 cents, closing at $1.90 with one load traded. A buyer bid the price up 4 cents before the load was traded with an unfilled bid setting the closing price. The barrel price remained steady at $1.91 with three loads traded. The price initially declined a penny before a buyer bid the price back up to unchanged for the day. The dry whey price declined 1.25 cents, closing at 59.75 with four loads traded. The weakness is having little influence on the market Tuesday. Class III futures are steady to 56 cents higher. The butter price slipped by 0.25 cent, closing at $3.1025 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk remained unchanged at $1.2325 with 17 loads traded. Class IV futures have only traded in the September and the December contracts with prices unchanged to 9 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.50 to 3.47 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 1.50 cents lower to 0.90 cent higher.
