Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Diverge

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 5 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.40 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.30 Lower
DOW JONES: 636 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 455 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.25 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price delined 1.75 closing at $1.9475 with five loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased a penny closing at $1.96 with three loads traded. The dry whey price declined 1.75 cents closing at 57.25 cents with two loads traded. the combination of the weakness of blocks and dry whey has class III futures trading 19 cents lower to 1 cent higher. The only gain is in the November contract. Losses are limited due to the increase in the barrel price. The butter price slipped 0.50 cent closing at $3.0975 with 11 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk declined 1.25 cents closing at $1.2175 with three loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet traded with wide bids and offers. Butter futures are 1.25 cents lower to 0.50 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 1.15 cents lower to 0.57 cent higher.
