Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Show Limit Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 1 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.50 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.60 Lower
DOW JONES: 5001 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 393 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.07 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price jumped 7.25 cents, closing at $2.10 with four loads traded. This is the highest price since March 27, 2023. The barrel cheese price jumped 8.50 cents, closing at $2.25 with one load traded. This is the highest price since Oct. 6, 2022. There were no unfilled bids or uncovered offers remaining at the close. The dry whey price remained unchanged at 56 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 10 cents lower to 75 cents higher. The September and October contracts are limit up while the only losses are seen in the March and April contracts. The butter price increased by 2.50 cents, closing at $3.1450 with 51 loads traded. This is a record for loads traded during a single trading session. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased by 0.25 cent, closing at $1.2450 with one load traded. Class IV futures have only traded in the October contact with an increase of 25 cents. Butter futures are 0.50 cent lower to 2.50 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.12 cent lower to 0.02 cent higher.
