Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrel Cheese Moves Above $2.00

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $2.10 Higher
DOW JONES: 7 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 80 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.55 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased a penny, closing at $1.9575 with nine loads traded. Both buyers and sellers wanted to take care of business. The barrel cheese price increased 4.50 cents, closing at $2.0025 with no loads traded. This is the first time it has moved above $2.00 since June 17. The dry whey price declined a penny, closing at 56.25 cents with two loads traded. Class III futures are 15 cents lower to 11 cents higher. The gains are seen in the August through December contacts. The butter price remained unchanged with no business being done. Buyers and sellers were unwilling to move their bids and offers to accomplish any business. Grade A nonfat dry milk declined 1.75 cents, closing at $1.20 with one load traded. Class IV futures only showed activity with the February and July contracts with prices unchanged and 10 cents higher, respectively. Butter futures are steady to 2.95 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.95 cent lower.
