Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Push Substantially Higher

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEANS: 4 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.80 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.32 Higher
DOW JONES: 79 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 30 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.61 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both the block and barrel cheese prices remained unchanged at $1.89 and $1.96 respectively with no loads traded. Each category had an unfilled bid at lower prices with no seller interest. Sellers likely held back waiting to see if buyers would be aggressive again. The dry whey price increased by 2 cents closing at 44 cents with three loads traded. Class III futures are 15 cents lower to 44 cents higher. The greatest gain is in the April contract with 20 loads traded at that price. The butter price gained 4.25 cents closing at $3.1625 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk gained 2.25 cents closing at $1.19 with 17 loads traded. The trading volume is unusual for nonfat dry milk and has not been seen for a long time. Class IV futures are 22-65 cents higher with December showing the greatest gain. Today is the last trading day for May futures and options.
