Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Shows Further Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 10 Higher
SOYBEANS: 24 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.10 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.10 Higher
DOW JONES: 39 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 13 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $1.64 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price declined 1.50 cents, closing at $1.8450 with seven loads traded. The barrel cheese price increased a penny to $1.9550 with 11 loads traded. The dry whey price gained 1.25 cents, closing at 45.25 cents with two loads traded. Class III futures in nearby months tried to turn higher as spot trading took place but ran out of steam slipping back again. Class III futures are 27 cents lower to 19 cents higher with July showing the largest decline. The butter price declined for the second day with a loss of 4.50 cents, closing at $3.05 with one load traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price decreased by 0.50 cent, closing at $1.1950 with one load traded. Class IV has only traded the August contract with the price down 2 cents. Butter futures are 0.55 to 4.75 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.65 to 1.00 cents higher.
