Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Moves Above $3

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.70 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $1.62 Higher
DOW JONES: 115 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 61 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $2.57 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price increased 2 cents, closing at $1.7675 with no loads traded. The barrel price remained unchanged at $1.8550 with no loads traded. There was an unfilled bid for a load of blocks and an uncovered offer for a load of barrels remaining at the close. Dry whey remained unchanged at 37.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 3 to 11 cents lower on moderate trading volume. Butter price increased 4 cents, moving price above $3.00 and closing at $3.0050 with seven loads traded. This is a new high for this trend. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased by 0.50 cent, closing at $1.1250 with five loads traded. Class IV futures are steady to 7 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.47 to 3.17 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.25 cent lower to 0.25 cent higher. USDA will release the April Federal Order class prices Wednesday afternoon.
