Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter Shows Further Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $0.50 Higher
DOW JONES: 92 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 41 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.99 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Both block and barrel cheese prices remained unchanged at $1.98 and $1.9125. respectively. There were no loads traded during the spot trading period. The only potential activity was an unfilled bid for a load of barrels. Buyers and sellers did not need to accomplish business aggressively.

The dry whey price remained unchanged at 38.50 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 12 cents lower to 9 cents higher. Butter prices slipped further with the price declining by 0.75 cent, closing at $2.99. Grade A nonfat dry milk increased 1.50 cents, closing at $1.1525 with four loads traded. Class IV futures are unchanged to 4 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.05 cent to 2.50 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.02 cent to 0.65 cent higher. USDA estimates milk production this year to reach 227.3 billion pounds with 2025 reaching 229.3 billion pounds.
