Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Barrels Show Further Weakness

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

The block cheese price closed unchanged at $1.57 after first increasing to $1.5825. The pattern of higher prices during spot trading not being able to hold into the close has been consistent over the past week. The barrel cheese price slipped by 0.25 cent closing at $1.56 with 9 loads traded. Dry whey saw further pressure with a decline of 0.50 cent with the price closing at 36.25 cents. This is the lowest level it has been since October 16, 2024. Class III futures are 1-10 cents lower. Butter price declined 4 cents closing at $2.93 with 2 loads traded. There was only an offer for one load of butter remaining at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained a penny closing at $1.1450 with no loads traded. One trade was posted in Class IV futures at 34 cents higher after the noon hour. It was likely someone not familiar with the nature of the market who placed a market order that was filled at the nearest offer. Butter futures are 2.25 cents lower to 0.85 cent higher. Dry whey futures are 0.30 cent lower to 0.50 cent higher.
