Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Butter, Cheese Extend Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.80 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.65 Higher
DOW JONES: 37 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 18 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.95 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 3.50 cents, closing at $1.55 with six loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 3.75 cents, closing at $1.5675 with two loads traded. Prices moved to higher levels again until selling pressure took prices off their highs. Block initially moved to $1.5550, and barrels moved to $1.5825 during the session. Two uncovered offers were remaining at the close for blocks and two offers for barrels. Dry whey price declined a penny to 38 cents with one load traded. Class III futures are 6 to 25 cents higher. Butter price increased 3 cents, closing at $2.97 with three loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased by 0.50 cent, closing at $1.1375 with two loads traded. There were four unfilled bids for loads of butter and one uncovered offer. Class IV futures are 4 to 5 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.75 cent lower to 3.02 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.20 cent lower to 2.20 cents higher.
