Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Milk Futures Strong

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 1 Higher
SOYBEANS: 1 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $3.60 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.0 Lower
DOW JONES: 236 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 246 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $2 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET:

Block cheese price remained steady at $1.4350 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased a penny, closing at $1.43 with one load traded. There was an unfilled bid for a load of blocks with two unfilled bids and two uncovered offers for barrels. Dry whey's price increased a penny, closing at 43 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are 5-53 cents higher with the greatest gain in the June contract.

There has been no change in fundamentals to trigger the strength in milk futures. Butter price increased 0.75 cent, closing at $2.84 with three loads traded and three offers remaining at the close. Grade A nonfat dry milk price decreased by 0.75 cent, closing at $1.1625 with one load traded. Class IV futures have not yet been traded. Butter futures are 0.50 to 2 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.07 to 0.60 cent higher.
