Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Shows Further Gains

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 1 Higher
SOYBEANS: 10 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $2.30 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.05 Lower
DOW JONES: 55 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 83 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $1.16 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased 5 cents, closing at $1.56 with three loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased a penny, closing at $1.48 with 14 loads traded. Barrel price fell back a penny from the high during spot trading but retained a gain. There were two unfilled bids for barrels and one uncovered offer. There were two uncovered offers for blocks at the close. Dry whey price gained 0.75 cent, ending at 43 cents with no loads traded. Class III futures are again only seeing strength in nearby contracts with later contracts remaining mixed. Futures range from 8 cents lower to 25 cents higher. Butter price remained unchanged at $2.5675 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined 1.25 cents closing at $1.1925 with 2 loads traded. Class IV futures are unchanged to 2 cents higher. Butter futures are 1.00 to 1.47 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.70 to 1.00 cent higher.
