Wednesday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Continue to Fall

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 4 Higher
SOYBEANS: 5 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $5.70 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $0.80 Higher
DOW JONES: 224 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 10 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.15 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price fell 8 cents after two days of stability closing at $1.80 with one load traded and one uncovered offer remaining at the close. Price is down to the lowest since July 21. Barrel cheese price fell 5 cents, closing at $1.61 with nine loads traded and two unfilled bids remaining at the close. This sent Class III futures plummeting with contracts unchanged to 40 cents lower. Dry whey price increased 0.50 cent, closing at 28.75 with six loads traded. The increase had no impact on milk futures.

Butter price was able to post a penny gain, closing at $2.84 with 13 loads traded and an unfilled bid remaining at the close of trading. Grade A nonfat dry milk price increased 0.75 closing at $1.1275 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are 2 cents to 17 cents higher. Butter futures are steady at 5.45 cents higher. Dry whey futures are steady to 0.52 cent lower.
