Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Makes a Comeback

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price increased a penny closing at $1.92 with 4 loads traded. Price initially declined 4 cents before buyers became aggressive wanting to pick up supply at the lower price. Price continued to increase from the lows and eventually increased a penny. The final load traded during the trading period was done in the conditional extension period after the regular session concluded. Barrel cheese price closed unchanged at $1.82 with 2 loads traded. Price initially decreased 0.50 cent before a buyer became more aggressive and price regained the loss. Dry whey slipped 0.75 cent closing at 29.25 with one load traded. Class III futures are 5 cents lower to 9 cents higher. Butter price declined 3 cents closing at $2.7425 with 14 loads traded. Price initially declined 3.50 cents and then bounced back a bit. Grade A nonfat milk price increased 0.50 cent closing at $1.1150 with no loads traded. Class IV futures are 10 cents lower to 18 cents higher. Butter futures are steady to 2 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.10-1.62 cents lower.
