Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese Prices Fall Back Near the Week's Lows

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $1.15 Higher
DOW JONES: 259 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 199 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.48 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Cheese prices couldn't hold up for the week as seller pressure came into the market again, pushing spot prices lower. Block cheese price declined 4 cents, closing at $1.88 with five loads traded and no unfilled bids or uncovered offers remaining at the close of spot trading. The price of barrel cheese declined a penny, closing at $1.81 with no loads traded. There was an unfilled bid and uncovered offer remaining at the close.

Prices moved back down near the lows of earlier this week. Dry whey price increased 0.75 cent closing at 30 cents with one load traded. Class IIII futures took a hit with prices 29 cents lower to 7 cents higher. The only gains are seen in the front month of September and the June contracts. Butter price declined 2.50 cents, closing at $2.7175 with 12 loads traded. There were six unfilled bids and one uncovered offer remaining at close.

Grade A nonfat dry milk price slipped 0.25 cent, ending at $1.1125 with one load traded. Class IV futures were 13 cents lower to 8 cents higher. Butter futures are steady at 3.10 cents lower. Dry whey futures are 0.25 cent lower to 0.65 cent higher.
