Monday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Buying Interest Uncovered for Barrels

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

LIVE CATTLE: $0.85 Lower
DOW JONES: 376 Points Higher
NASDAQ: 34 Points Higher
CRUDE OIL: $0.44 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Milk futures showed some strength prior to spot trading on the potential for cash to show gains. Block cheese remained steady at $1.9650 with no loads traded. Barrel cheese price increased 2.50 cents, ending at $1.80 with two loads traded. Traders showed more confidence in buying futures as the strength of barrels could indicate the price had fallen low enough to generate further buying interest. Dry whey price increased 0.25 cent with two loads traded. Class III futures are 4 to 41 cents higher. Butter price increased 3 cents, closing at $2.65 with 14 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.1250 with 13 loads traded. Class IV futures have not yet traded. Butter futures are 0.95 to 4.07 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.80 to 1.52 cents higher.
