Friday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Cheese, Butter Prices Show Further Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 5 Higher
SOYBEANS: 7 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $4.90 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.22 Higher
DOW JONES: 258 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 282 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.40 Higher

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price fell 5.75 cents, closing at $1.82 with no loads traded. A seller wanted to move a load of blocks but could not entice a buyer even at the lower price. If fact, no buyers even showed up to place any bids. Barrel cheese price fell 5.25 cents, closing at $1.8950 with three loads traded and three uncovered offers remaining at the close of trading. Butter price declined 1.50 cents, closing at $2.94 with 10 loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price remained unchanged at $1.52. Dry whey price remained unchanged at 45 cents. Class III futures are 1 to 57 cents lower and have eliminated the gains of the past two weeks. Class IV futures are 24 cents lower to 5 cents higher. Butter futures are .07 cent lower to 1.25 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 0.50 cent lower.
