Tuesday Midday Dairy Market Update - Milk Futures Hold Despite Barrel Weakness

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 13 Higher
SOYBEANS: 29 Higher
SOYBEAN MEAL: $11.10 Higher
LIVE CATTLE: $1.27 Lower
DOW JONES: 128 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 287 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $0.32 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price remained steady at $2.2625 with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up to do any business. Barrel price slipped 0.75 cent, closing at $2.26 with no loads traded. An uncovered offer for one load moved price lower. Dry whey remained unchanged at 59 cents after eight consecutive days of losses. Butter price increased 2 cents, closing at $2.74 with no loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price declined a penny, closing at $1.84 with no loads traded. Class III futures are 12 cents lower to 42 cents higher with June posting the greatest gain. Class IV futures are 17 cents lower to 20 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.67 to 1.75 cents higher. Dry whey futures are unchanged to 0.75 cent higher. The Global Dairy Trade auction trade weighted average declined 1% Tuesday, adding to the slight decline on the last event.
