Thursday Midday Dairy Market Summary - Spot Prices Show Continued Support

OUTSIDE MARKETS SUMMARY:

CORN: 10 Higher
SOYBEANS: 46 Lower
SOYBEAN MEAL: $6.40 Lower
LIVE CATTLE: $0.67 Lower
DOW JONES: 180 Points Lower
NASDAQ: 69 Points Lower
CRUDE OIL: $5.20 Lower

MIDDAY MARKET UPDATE:

Block cheese price remained unchanged at $2.31 with no loads traded. No buyers or sellers showed up to do any business. Barrel cheese price increased 1.25 cents, ending at $2.3125 with no loads traded. An unfilled bid remained at the close. This suggests there could be further upside for price until this order is filled. Dry whey price increased 1.75 cents, closing at 63.50 cents with one load traded. Dry whey may have found a bottom for the time being. Butter price increased 3.50 cents, closing at $2.7825 with seven loads traded. Grade A nonfat dry milk price gained 0.25 cent, closing at $1.8175 with three loads traded. Spot prices are not screaming higher but continue to find buying support. Class III futures are 27 cents lower to 15 cents higher. A gain is only seen in the front-month April contract as it needs to remain close to cash. Class IV futures are 5 to 22 cents higher. Butter futures are 0.77 to 4.00 cents higher. Dry whey futures are 1.62 cents lower to 0.90 cent higher.
